About

I’m an economist, a writer and the mother of two girls.

I had trouble getting pregnant.

Once pregnant, we ran into a potentially fatal fetal heart condition.

Birth, and the neonatal heart surgery that followed, contained lots of uncertainty.

We ran into many blank spots on the map of maternal care.

Despite these challenges, we were lucky to have two children.

Much work is being done to better understand women’s bodies and how they interact with pregnancy. This show is an effort to share some of the amazing work that researchers, OBs and other scientists are doing, some of which has made it into the mainstream, and some that hasn’t, but all of which has the power to change the way you view your body, and take care of it before, during and after a pregnancy.
